The course was first used for horse racing on 10 June 1743 when an open meeting was held there to celebrate King George II’s recovery from illness. The first recorded race meeting at this location was a four-mile handicap for three-year-old colts on 4 May 1744; this event featured two heats and a final over 7 furlongs.[2]

In 1855–56 it hosted its first official 18 furlong (1 mi) race called “The Oaks” which took place each year but did not become part of any official programme until 1910 due to its distance being considered too short.[3]

The Epsom Racecourse is a Grade II listed building located in Epsom, Surrey. It has been hosting horse racing since 1722 and it’s the home of the Derby Stakes.

The racecourse was built on land belonging to Edward Somerset (later 1st Earl of Worcester) and opened in 1722. The course itself consists of two circuits: Flat Circuit and Chute Course which can accommodate up to 6,500 spectators each day during peak season.

Parade Park is a large sports and recreation complex located in the town of Epsom. It has a number of different sports facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and an ice rink. The park has also been used as the venue for many events over the years including the Open Championship tennis tournament between 1985-2016; Glastonbury Festival music event (1986–2016); British Grand Prix motor racing event (1985–1992) and Wimbledon Championships tennis tournament (1914–present).

Parade Park was recently voted one of Britain’s most popular places to play sport by VisitEngland reader surveys – placing it ahead of London’s Hyde Park which came second overall.
