Witney is a town in Oxfordshire, England. It has a population of over 90,000 people and is the largest settlement in the county. It lies on the River Windrush near to Oxford, which is its major commercial centre. Witney was part of Berkshire until 1974 when it became part of Oxfordshire following local government reorganisation in 1965.

Museum of the History of Science and Technology

The Museum of the History of Science and Technology is located in Witney, Oxfordshire. The museum was founded in 1962 by Sir Harold Hillier (1898โ€“1981), who was interested in science and technology from an early age.

The museum buildings themselves were constructed from 1894 to 1901 as part of a group of buildings that housed a school called St Luke’s College, but they were sold off by their owner at some point during World War II due to financial constraints after he had lost his fortune investing in various businesses such as airlines and hotels across Europe during wartime conditions. Nowadays these old buildings house this fantastic collection which tells you all about how things have changed over time through exhibitions such as “Science on Screen”, where visitors can see movies made using special effects techniques developed since film cameras first came into existence!

Westonbirt Arboretum is a botanical garden located in the village of Westonbirt, near Chipping Norton. The arboretum was founded by John Mayo in 1887 and has been open to the public since then. It’s also a National Trust property, which means that it belongs to an organization called The National Trust (and not just any old place). And because Westonbirt is part of this group’s network of properties across Britain (and sometimes beyond), you can expect to see lots of animals wandering around these parts!

The arboretum itself has over 500 different types of trees including oak trees, coniferous trees such as spruce and larch trees as well as wildflowers from around Europe such as orchids or other species that have adapted themselves well enough over time so they’re able thrive here without damaging anything else around them.”

Witney Museum and Art Gallery is located in the town hall, a 15th century building which was once the centre of local government. The museum is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 16:00 and closed on weekends. It is also closed over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The museum has various permanent exhibitions covering all aspects of history, art and archaeology within an attractive Georgian setting that includes many beautiful paintings by local artists as well as some wonderful examples of traditional pottery made locally.
