Earls Court Station

Earls Court Station is a London Underground and National Rail station in the Earls Court area of the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The station is served by the District, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan Railway (later Metropolitan line), Northern line as well as trains on Crossrail’s Elizabeth Line (via Watford Junction).

Earls Court was opened on 8 March 1864 as part of the Great Central Railway’s extension from Marylebone to Euston via Green Street and Baker Street which included six intermediate stations including this one at Albert Bridge Road.

It was renamed Earl’s Court in 1886 when it became part of the District Railway (DR) system following its amalgamation with other lines such as Drury Lane & Holborn Viaduct (#487), Kew Bridge (#489) and Richmond Gate Bridge (#490).

The first thing I noticed when we walked up was all of these life-like dummies on display throughout the whole building – it really made me wonder what they would look like if they were actually alive!
